Conveyancing

Conveyancing refers to the legal process by which the title of a property is transferred from one person to another.

  • With one of the highest home ownership rates in the world, it is safe to say most of us in Singapore would be involved in at least one such transaction in our lives.
  •
  • Due to the nature of the transaction and how it typically involves a large sum of money, you may choose to appoint a law firm to help you with the process. While what comes to mind is usually the need for consistent updates, and guidance on what is required from you, much more has to be done, specifically on the back-end of the transaction. This includes but is not limited to performing any necessary checks on the parties involved, as well as liaising with Banks, the Central Provident Fund Board (CPF Board), the Housing and Development Board (HDB), Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and more. In general, this process takes around 3 months, which means a lot can be packed within a very narrow time frame depending on the circumstances of the transaction.
